Yi Yuan started singing at a tender age of 7, when his mother first brought him to a karaoke session with her friends. Since then, he had fallen in love with singing and performing.
During his primary school years, he performed at various school events. This continued when he was posted to Presbyterian High School where he was invited to sing at the school’s Friendship Day celebrations at the Botanic Gardens, Sentosa and East Coast Park, at the Entrepreneurship Day exhibition at Plaza Singapura and at many other school functions.
In 2006, he accompanied a friend to audition for the first Campus Superstar competition organized by MediaCorp TV and ended up being selected into the finals of the competition where he was eventually placed among the top 5 male finalists.
Following his success in the competition, he was invited by MediaCorp to appear in various public performances to promote Project Superstar, SuperBand and Campus Superstar 2 competitions. He also took up part-time modeling and was cast in a Singapore Tourism Board commercial promoting education in Singapore. He was also invited to perform at the Vesak Day celebrations at a temple on the Indonesian island of Batam, and appeared in the Countdown event at Hougang Mall in December 2006.
In July 2007, Yi Yuan was invited to sing at the Opening Ceremony of the Singapore Youth Festival as one of the soloists. More recently, Yi Yuan was involved in a charity song project to raise funds for the Sichuan Earthquake Victims. He also performed at the Teacher’s Day celebrations at Suntec Convention Hall in September 2008.
Yi Yuan was invited as special guest artiste to perform at the Hwa Chong Institute Talentime 2009. He also participated in the highly successul Campus ReUnion Concert 2009. Together with his performing colleagues, Yi Yuan has been appointed a "Singing Emissary" of Converse Singapore's Rock My World Campaign. You can see the huge hanging banner in Bugis Junction.
Currently, Yi Yuan is busy putting together his new show concept which he hopes to bring on a tour to schools and other educational institutions. Even , having his own debut concert.
